In 2005, Russell Budd gave a presentation on multi-district litigation in Texas at the 28th Annual Advanced Civil Trial Course, hosted by the Texas Bar Association. Russell Budd also served as a panelist for the "Anatomy of a Successful Asbestos Bankruptcy" and the "Overview of 2004 and Anticipating 2005 on State and Federal Legislation Front" seminars at Mealey's Asbestos Bankruptcy Conference in 2004.

In 2007, the American Association for Justice awarded Russell Budd its Wiedemann Wysocki Natio nal Finance Council Award for his efforts to improve the civil justice system and his commitment to the legal profession. Russell Budd works with several non-profits in the Dallas area, including the Dallas Faith Communities Coalition and the Dallas chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He is a member of the advisory board for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
